The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) have announced that the Complete Online Digital Evidence System (CODES) developed by Business Systems and Damovo has been added to their national framework arrangement.

CODES,  a police interview recording solution, meets the needs of today’s police forces by being fully modular. Forces can quickly and easily replace existing recorders with a low cost digital solution, whilst having all of the capability of scaling up to a fully networked system for the handling of digital evidence, as outlined in the NPIA’s vision for the police.

Toby Sparrow, CODES Product Manager at Business Systems said, “Implementing CODES technology can have a significant effect in reducing a force’s annual operating expenditure. What is not necessarily apparent at first glance is the cost involved with the current analogue tape recorders where tape purchases, storage, transport and destruction are an enormous overhead. By contrast, if we consider the savings associated with electronic storage and file transfer the return on Investment is usually less than 12 months.”

Acting effectively as an interview and evidence capture tool, CODES can also be applied across a number of different markets including customs and immigration, military proceedings, industrial tribunals and even within the private sector for investigations of fraud, misconduct or non-compliance.
