Business Systems to provide support to Ukraine and its people during this difficult time

BSL stands in solidarity for all those fighting for their freedom

Our teams at Business Systems (“BSL”) remain deeply concerned, shocked and disheartened by the ongoing violence that we are witnessing in Ukraine. We not only stand in solidarity for those fighting for their lives and for their freedom, but also wish to express our unequivocal commitment to support the nation and its people.

As part of this commitment, BSL are coming together to provide support to those in need. Firstly we will be making a direct donation to Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC – www.dec.org.uk). For anyone unfamiliar, the DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities, all of which are experts in providing humanitarian aid quickly and effectively. We acknowledge that there are people experiencing conflict all around the world, which is why we have chosen this particular charity. We will encourage our employees to also donate, the sum of which we will match to the first £25,000 in addition to our initial donation.

We are already engaging with our partners and portfolio of companies, championed by August Equity to expedite an internal action plan for supporting Ukrainian immigrants to the UK; supporting visa applications and employees charitable initiatives. As part of these plans we will also be in contact with local government and MPs to accelerate their planned initiative for a private, business and community sponsorship scheme to facilitate bringing Ukrainian refugees to the UK.

Finally, as a compassionate and inclusive workplace BSL want to ensure that our employees all feel safe and supported during this time. We will be making resources available to promote self-care while also encouraging team members to speak to line managers if further support is needed.

We know that many in our wider community are being affected by the invasion of Ukraine and want to ensure the strength of our own community reaches those who need it most. While our hopes for a quick diplomatic resolution are strong, we’re aware that the damage and trauma caused is already catastrophic, which is why we are taking many of the actions outline above.

If you wish to donate or join BSL’s commitment to support this nation and its people you can find out more about Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) here.
