Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Business Systems (U.K.) Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.
Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Business Systems (U.K.) Limited’s first reporting year and baseline year are the same 12-month period.
Emissions reduction targets
To continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next seven years to 29.368 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 33.33%
Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph in this attachment.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
Business Systems (U.K.) Limited has committed to implementing carbon reduction initiatives to ensure we achieve Net Zero by 2050. A key step we have already made towards this has been to move into a new state-of-the-art office in London. Having previously been situated in the same building for the last 30 years, we can now ensure a more energy efficient working space which better aligns with our carbon reduction goals.
In addition to this, all technology used for day-to-day working is certified by Energy Star, and properly disposed according to WEEE Regulations on retirement. This reduces the environmental impact caused by our key work equipment.
As most of our staff work within close proximity to our office, commuter carbon emissions are already low. We do, additionally, offer a ‘Cycle to Work’ scheme which provides incentives for our team to avoid pollution-emitting options for travelling to work. For team members located further afield, we are in discussions with the electric car subscription service Onto (recently added to our stellar list of clients) to provide an EV scheme for our staff.
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Offsetting carbon emissions from our services through tree-planting schemes, investing in carbon-neutral/reductive technologies, or working with urban rewilding charities.
- Commit to donating a percentage of the revenue from each contract we undertake to carbon-reduction schemes within and outside Business Systems (U.K.) Limited.
- Establish incentives for staff energy use reduction, both within the office and at home.
