As part of an ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, Business Systems is proud to share that Sustainable Advantage has certified the organisation as carbon neutral across its Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Following a business wide ESG programme, and working closely with external consultants, Business Systems originally set a target to become carbon neutral in 2023 but met the goal a year ahead of schedule.

What is Carbon Neutral?

Carbon neutral means Business Systems has balanced the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions released into the atmosphere through its operations with an equivalent amount of carbon removal or offsetting measures.

Our Approach

To achieve carbon neutral status, the business found ways to reduce its footprint, such as centrally locating to one premise and ceasing gas usage – now only using renewable energy. This has enabled Business Systems to offset 30 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2022 – equivalent to planting 1,500 trees.

Damian Bowen, Chief Operating Officer at Business Systems, commented: “Embracing a sustainable future, Business Systems is proud of our carbon neutral status, which is a testament to our ongoing commitment to help combat climate change. Surpassing our initial 2023 target, we’ve offset CO2 emissions by adopting eco-friendly practices – this is the first step in our journey toward Net Zero. Sustainability is not just a goal for us; it’s a pledge for a greener tomorrow.”

This achievement underpins Business Systems’ commitment to qualifying, reducing, and offsetting greenhouse gas emissions across operations. Looking ahead, the team has set an ambitious plan to achieve Net Zero by 2025.
